OUTLINE OF INTERNATIONALIZATION PLAN FOR THE RENNES-BRETAGNE INSTITUTE OF OSTÉOPATHIE
The Erasmus+ program is part of a clear internationalization strategy for the IO-RB, fully complying with the principles of non-discrimination, transparency and inclusion set out in the ECHE charter. Thanks to the Erasmus+ charter, the Institut d'Ostéopathie de Rennes-Bretagne is pursuing its development in Europe, where osteopathic practice and training are now recognized in 13 countries.
The main objective for the IO-RB is to give all students/teachers who so wish the chance to take part in European mobility programs with osteopathic research and training establishments. Through these mobilities, upcoming graduates and osteopathic faculty at the IO-RB will be able to expand their areas of expertise, become more receptive to new ideas and perspectives, explore a different culture, establish future professional networks, and acquire global osteopathic experience.
This strategy recognizes the essential contribution of mobile staff and students. It also highlights our Institute's involvement in European and international cooperation projects, the quality of our higher education programs and French osteopathic clinical experience. This bridge to Europe supplements the mobilities that the Institut d'Ostéopathie de Rennes-Bretagne has already established on other continents, including Asia and America (partnership agreements with the mother-child public hospital of Da Nang, Vietnam, and the Institut d'Enseignement de l'Ostéopathie du Québec in Canada).
The close links between the IO-RB and the University of Rennes, through the Mouvement Sport Santé (M2S) laboratory, are also a major support for the development of our establishment.

Erasmus mobilities for osteopathy students
Outgoing mobilitIES (IO-RB students)
Mobility during the fifth year of study is possible through the Erasmus+ outgoing mobility program. The IO-RB internal application process takes place during the 4th year of study.
Incoming mobilitIES (students from partner universities or osteopathic institutes)
Discovering France and the Brittany region through student exchange is a fantastic opportunity offered by the IO-RB.
We welcome students from our partner institutions to immerse themselves in our osteopathic learning environment, whether in classes, clinical practice, or initiation to research. With its rich student and community life, exchange students bring their unique ideas and perspectives to an already diverse and vibrant student body.
These exchanges can take place during the school year (September to June), outside the student exam periods (early January and late May). The IO-RB training program takes place over 5 years, each of which consists of 2 semesters;
Discover the training program
Students wishing to participate in our Erasmus+ program during the following academic year may apply by June 30 (first semester) and December 15 (second semester).
Financing
Students are entirely responsible for the costs associated with their mobility, such as travel, meals, health insurance and accommodation. However, they will receive an Erasmus+ grant, which contributes to the costs associated with the mobility. This lump-sum grant takes into account the cost of living in the destination country and the distance from the IO-RB. In addition, the student is exempt from paying tuition fees at the host institution. Additional details are available here.
The mobility allowance is meant to cover the additional expenses incurred by the stay abroad, and not the usual costs of the home university. Any period spent abroad, whether as an intern or a student, can take the form of a hybrid mobility activity, combining physical mobility and virtual activities. In this context, scholarships are only paid during periods of physical mobility.
ACCOMMODATIONS for foreign students and teachers from partner countries
Numerous student residences offer accommodation directly on campus. + more info here.
HEALTH
Incoming and departing students are required to possess a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Student mobility in Canada : A partnership with the Institut d'Enseignement de l'Ostéopathie du Québec (IEOQ)
International mobility program
The Institut d'Ostéopathie de Rennes-Bretagne (IO-RB) and The Institut d'Enseignement de l'Ostéopathie du Québec (IEOQ) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to promote the international mobility of osteopathy students. The aim of this program is to strengthen clinical training and stimulate osteopathic research.
Thanks to this collaboration, students from both institutes have the opportunity to participate in international exchanges, through 15-day stays at each school's consultation centres. During these exchanges, students learn about theoretical and practical instruction that enhances their osteopathic skills and fosters cultural immersion in a new learning environment.
A program focused on osteopathic training and research
This collaboration between the IO-RB and the IEOQ includes the development of joint teaching content, with the aim of strengthening the skills of future osteopaths. The programme also focuses on osteopathic research, with joint projects aimed at advancing scientific knowledge in the field of osteopathy.
International conferences WITH osteopathic professionals
As part of this agreement, an important event is organised every year: the inter-school seminar, which takes place in April during the World Osteopathic Healthcare Week.
This seminar brings together healthcare professionals and osteopaths from both sides of the Atlantic. Attendees can learn about innovative teaching approaches and share best practices through lectures and workshops.
Students present their research work as part of their final dissertation. Teachers from both institutes also take advantage of this collaboration to improve their own teaching practice, by exchanging teaching methods and working together on research projects.
